We believe that no one knows more about our business than our customers. What our customers tell us matters significantly and guides our business development. Although our team has expertise in tourism promotion and Yellowstone, we cannot know the needs of our customers as well as our customers know it.

Our company has up-to-minute market research about our customers. We are continually collecting new data at a rate of 100-150 new surveys per week. Currently, we have 6,500 surveys from the last 30 months that tell us who our customers are and what motivates them, their interests, their trip-planning needs and demographics.

For example, 54% of our customers at YellowstonePark.com are planning a first-time trip to Yellowstone National Park, and 37.4% are planning a return visit. Customers who take our survey, which is non-incentivised, answer 40 questions that range from primary residence, age, income, education, to interests, length of stay, mode of travel, what they'll spend money on during their vacation, if they'll use coupons, and more.

We use this market research as a tool to help our product development and to help our tourism industry advertising/marketing partners identify their target audience and shape their messages. We also offer customized/filtered online research for our clients.

Here is what we know about our customers, people who are planning a vacation to the Yellowstone Park region:
  • 96% of the people who requested our Yellowstone Trip Planner Kit made a trip to Yellowstone. This is a significant conversion rate!
  • 60% will visit in Summer, 20% in Fall, 17% in Spring and 3% in the Winter.
  • "Maps & Scenic Drives" is the top-requested type of information requested.
  • Wildlife Viewing is the #1 reason people plan a Yellowstone vacation, Historic Trails, Museums and Hiking are other top reasons.
  • 45% will stay in a hotel/motel, 31% want to spend at least one night in a cabin, 25% want to spend at least one night in a campground, 18% want to try a rustic lodge, and 5% are looking for luxury accommodations.
  • Our customers will spend 6 nights and 7 days on their Yellowstone vacation.
  • There are an average of 4 people per travel party.
  • 49% will drive their own vehicle to Yellowstone, and 34% will fly/drive, and 10.5% will bring an RV.
  • 75% of Yellowstone travelers would probably use discount coupons during their travels.
  • 36% of Yellowstone visitors took 2 vacations last year.
  • 98% of our customers use the internet to plan their travel routes.
  • 25% of our customers live in the Midwest, 17% live in the South, 13% in the West, 9% in the Mid-Atlantic, 8% in the Southwest, 7% in the Mountain region, 6% in the Central Plains, 5% in the Northeast, and 8% outside of the US.
